70-year-old Bugatti chassis finally getting a body

In 1939, three Bugatti Type 64 Coupe chassis were built by Jean Bugatti. Two of them got bodies before Bugatti was killed in August 1939 while testing the Type 57 C “Tank.”

But chassis No. 64002 — was never bodied. Until now.

Bugatti collector Peter Mullin, owner of the un-bodied chassis since 2003, has initiated a process to create a body for the unfinished Bugatti. When completed, the car will be displayed at his Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, Calif.

Actually, James Bond did the barrel roll better

What is it about James Bond’s barrel roll in 1974′s The Man with the Golden Gun?

In 2008, Top Gear tried to recreate the stunt — and failed. Miserably.

Most recently, stunt driver Rob Dyrdek, barrel-rolled a Chevy Sonic in order to promote the brand onYouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Apparently, Dyrdek is the “first person to ever kickflip a car at a skateboarding-themed event at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, Calif.”

That’s a wordy way of saying he did a barrel roll. You can see it here. As for being the first person to pull off a barrel roll in a car. Not really.

James Bond actually did it better — or his stunt man did — while filming The Man with the Golden Gun. Dyrdek’s stunt, while impressive, lacks the finesse of 007′s stuntman. A super computer was used to determine speed, weight and velocity for Bond’s smooth landing on that rickety looking bridge — but it was 1974, super computer or not. Which makes the Golden Gun stunt decidedly low-tech — and even more impressive.
