The University of California not so recently put together a video about safety belts — Safety through Seat Belts, circa the 1950s — that, although it features lap belts, is still fairly accurate.

Essentially, the message remains the same. Wear them and you’re safer. Don’t … well don’t not wear them.

The vintage black and white video details some of the more technical points of car crashes, noting how it’s often the second collision of a person hitting the inside of the car that does the most damage. Seat belts saved lives then. They do now, too.

No matter what kind of car you drive, you should always wear your seat belts. And when you do drive, OdoClub can help save you money. OdoClub members earn rewards for every mile they drive. And the rewards can be redeemed at participating OdoClub dealerships for discounts on goods and services.

Beginning with the 1966 Pontiac GTO Dean Jeffries transformed into a boat-sized T-Bucket for The Monkees‘ television show that ran from from 1966 – 1968, Edmunds Inside Line’s top 100 list includes plenty of obvious choices — Green Hornet’s 1966 Black Beauty Imperial; General Lee, The Dukes of Hazzard’s 1969 Dodge Charger, and the 1974 Pontiac Firebird Esprit (pictured) James Garner drove in The Rockford Files.

But there are surprises, too. Like the 1983 Wagon Queen Family Truckster from National Lampoon’s Vacation and the 1979 Dodge Power Wagon from Simon & Simon.

Whether you’re driving a 1969 Dodge Charger in Valdosta, Ga. or a 1966 Chrysler Imperial in Los Angeles, Ca., OdoClub will help save you money on the purchase of your next automobile.
Was this the black Caddy Elvis was referencing when he sang Santa Claus is Back in Town? It very well could be. Elvis bought the Cadillac in 1956; the Christmas song was released a year later.

The well-kept car will soon be auctioned — just in time for the holidays.

According to the description on Hemmings Blog, the car is a 1955 Cadillac Series 75 Fleetwood limousine that Bonhams is offering at its Classic California Sale, on Nov. 12, at the Petersen Automotive Museum. Elvis bought the Caddy in January 1956 (his dad, Vernon, co-signied). Elvis had it repainted from blue to black. He used it to ferry his band to shows throughout the South. Eventually, the car made its way to the Elvis Presley Museum in the 1990s, then the Elvis-a-Rama Museum in Las Vegas.

The limo’s documentation includes Elvis’ signature on the original owner’s manual. Bonhams anticipates it will sell $100,000 to $150,000.

Doesn’t matter if you prefer the 10 battered and partly-buried Caddies at the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas or the brand new vintage ones driven by the King, you can earn rewards for every mile you drive. And the rewards you earn through OdoClub’s dealership loyalty program can be redeemed for discounts on goods and services.
