The Volkswagen Beetle is set to make another comeback. This will be the Bug’s second return — the first was in 1998. (Digital image of what the next-gen VW Beetle may look like.)

And although it will still look like the original Beetle — rounded hood, round headlamps and tail lamps, and separate fenders covering each wheel — the new model will be more contoured.

This time around, the Beetle will also feature a much wider range of individualized exterior options. A concept version of Beetle 3.0 is expected to make an appearance at the Los Angeles auto show later this year. Expect to see it at dealerships in May 2011.

Just like the current Beetle, the new one will be assembled in Mexico.
