News has just leaked about the new 5.0L V8 that will be in the 2011 Ford Mustang GT. Not since the Fox body Mustang GT with the Windsor V8 has a Mustang been paired with a 5.0L engine. The new engine will sport a host of updates such Dual Over Head Cams with 4 valves per cylinder and Variable Valve Timing in an aluminum block engine. The new 5.0L will have 412 horse power and 390 lbs ft of torque, this number is still short of the much larger engine Chevy Camaro and Dodge Challenger, but both cars have more weight to push around. The new 5.0L Mustang will be available with either a 6 Speed automatic or 6 speed manual transmission. No word on pricing but expect sales of the new Mustang to start sometime in mid 2010.
