Toyota may have reached a settlement with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to fix or replace the accelerator pedals in eight Toyota and Lexus models. This is the company’s largest-ever recall. However, Toyota denies an agreement has been reached.
Japan’s Kyodo News reports that Toyota has reached an agreement with the NHTSA, however, company spokesperson Hideaka Honma says no agreement has been made and that talks are continuing.
Toyota has agreed to fix the accelerator pedal in affected models but does not plan to expand the recall pas the floor mats. The floor mat recall affects the 2004-2009 Prius, 2005-2010 Toyota Avalon, 2005-2010 Toyota Tacoma, 2007-2010 Toyota Tundra, 2006-2010 Lexus IS250, 2006-2010 Lexus IS350.
