Eating while driving isn’t just dangerous; those who do it may end up paying more for their car insurance, according to a recent survey.
A study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute found that 80 percent of crashes and 65 percent of near-crashes involve driver distraction. The survey also revealed that more than 70 percent of drivers eat and 83 percent drink while driving.
